Al-Jasim Plastering was started by Ahmad (pronounced Ak-med) Al-Jasim. Ahmad came to New Zealand as a refugee from the war in Syria and through hardwork and diligence, he started his business in Wellington. His story is not just a story of seeking safety and security; it was also the beginning of a new chapter of hope. As he settled into his new home, he found himself contemplating the possibility of turning his passion for plastering into a thriving business.
Our Story
Turning a dream into a reality
Ahmad escaped the Syrian war by fleeing into Jordan with this parents and siblings. While the family was based in Jordan, a country where plastered homes are the standard, Ahmad started plastering there to support his family. He gained many years experience there.
His family were then accepted to come to New Zealand to start a new life. He is now well settled into the New Zealand lifestyle and has learnt very good English. He began working for an established company here working in homes and buildings around the Wellington region.
He then started Al-Jasim Plastering and is proud to put his family name to his business and to contribute to New Zealand society as a Syrian Kiwi. He is also proud to raise his young family here.
